Abacre restaurant Point of sale on a Network

Post by momanyilistic »

I have installed ARPOS on two computers that are networked together i.e C1 and C2
I have installed Abacre Firebird Distribution 2 on C1 which am using as a server, i have selected remote and the server name C1, database is
C:\Documents and Settings\123456789\My Documents\Abacre Restaurant Point of Sale 5\arpos-test.fdb
on C2 i have selected remote and computer name C1, Database path
C:\Documents and Settings\123456789\My Documents\Abacre Restaurant Point of Sale 5\arpos-test.fdb

am able to access and edit the folders from the C2.
but when am trying to connect to C2 i cant i get a dialogue with this message
error when trying to connect to DB: SQL Error: Unable to complete request to "C1". Failed to establish a connection. A connection failed because the connected party did not properly respond after a period of time, or established error that precludes successful execution of subsequent statements

Please help me, is there anything i have done wrong or something i have not installed?

if you cannot connect then try to disable firewall on all computers.
Note: our distribution of Firebird is using port 3060
for TCP/IP incoming and outcoming connections.

So in firewall of all computers you may add an exception do open port
3060.

Does it work now?

It is very easy after installation of Firebird 2 server. On login windo use remote for all computer and in server field type the name of computer instead of IP Address..............if you are in a local area network and path of data base will be only the driver name\folder\file.fbd (Here don;t use computer name affix with the path)
